Booking Policy





This Booking Policy must be read together with the Site Terms that form a legal agreement between you and My Car Inspectors Limited (“us” or “we”). The defined terms in the Site Terms which are used in this Booking Policy have the same meaning as in the Site Terms.

My Car Inspectors is a platform for linking Mechanics with customers looking for a car inspection prior to purchasing a vehicle (the “Platform”). This Booking Policy applies to the booking by you of a Mechanic through the Platform accessible though the website and/or the app of the same name (the “Site”), as appropriate. In the event of a conflict between the Site Terms and this Booking Policy in relation to the booking of a Mechanic, this Booking Policy shall take precedence.

3. Booking services provided by My Car Inspectors Limited

3.1 We provide, via the Platform, certain booking services.

3.2 My Car Inspectors is a Platform that connects potential buyers of used carsregistered on the Site(customers) with Mechanics nationwide. Registered customers are able to search for Mechanics via the Site and send inspection requests to a Mechanic of their choice.

3.3 If the Mechanic who you have made a booking with is no longer registered on our Platform, we will inform you and cancel your booking without charge.

4. The relationship between you, the independent Mechanic and My Car Inspectors Limited

4.1 We do not provide car inspection services. We connect you to Mechanics who can provide you with car inspection services.

4.2 Car inspection services are provided to you under a contract between you and the Mechanic. We are not a party to that contract.

4.3 The Mechanics are independent of us. They are not our employees, agents or sub-contractors and we are not liable or responsible for their acts or omissions in providing vehicle inspection services to you.

5. Your obligations under this Booking Policy

When making a booking, you confirm that:

5.1 The vehicle will be at or near the specific address at the agreed time.

5.2 The Mechanic will have adequate and reasonable access to the relevant vehicle to perform the inspection service.

5.3 You will make available in reasonable time any information that may affect the ability of the Mechanic to perform the vehicle inspection service, for example if you become aware that the Mechanic’s access to the vehicle will be restricted or limited. This includes information that you become aware of between making the booking and the start of the vehicle inspection.

5.4 You have informed and agreed with the vehicle owner, or such person authorised by them to deal with the vehicle, that a Mechanic will carry out a vehicle inspection on their vehicle, and that adequate and reasonable time will be allowed to the Mechanic to conduct the vehicle inspection. We estimate that most vehicle inspections will take between 45 – 90 minutes to complete, but this is an estimate only. Depending on the vehicle and the circumstances, your inspection may be longer or shorter than this estimate.

5.5 You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle owner consents to us and the Mechanic being provided with their details, and consents to the vehicle inspection at the time and date provided in your online booking. If the vehicle owner refuses to permit the Mechanic carry out the vehicle inspection, then you will still be liable to pay the full cost of the vehicle inspection.

5.6 Your payment details are valid and you have sufficient funds available for payment of the Mechanic when the vehicle inspection is completed.

6. The vehicle inspection service

6.1 The vehicle inspection service will be carried out by the Mechanic, in accordance with the vehicle inspection report as informed by the Mechanic’s professional skill, judgement and expertise.

6.2 AMechanic may offer you additional services, such as advanced diagnostics, repair of vehicle after purchase and MOT Inspection.

7. Charges and payment

7.1 The vehicle inspection service costs £95 which you pay to us using the card details you have registered with us.

7.2 Additional services are available at the rate specified.

7.3 If the Mechanic is successful in negotiating a reduction to the purchase price of the vehicle, the Mechanic is entitled to a success fee. The success fee is a variable charge, amounting to 20% of the cash amount you save following the negotiation. The calculation of the success fee is set out below:

Success Fee = (Original Vehicle Sales Price – Final Vehicle Sales Price) ÷ 100 x 20

7.4 If the Mechanichas to travel to perform the vehicle inspection service,there will be an additional charge of £ 0.50 per mile for every mile above 10 miles each way between the Mechanic’s place of business and the vehicle inspection location (the “Fuel Allowance”).

7.5 All of the above charges are inclusive of applicable VAT.

7.6 When you make a booking, we will pre-authorise payment on behalf of the Mechanic using the card details you provide to us. Your payment obligation is discharged when payment is made by you through the Platform on completion of the vehicle inspection service.

7.7 The success fee (if one is due) must be paid by you within 48 hours of the completion of the vehicle inspection. If the final sales contract uploaded by the Mechanic to the Platform following the vehicle inspection shows that the final agreed sales price is lower than the initial sales price, we will deduct the success fee from the card details you have provided if the success fee has not been paid 48 hours after the date of the relevant vehicle inspection.

8. Cancellation and rescheduling

8.1 You have the right to cancel a booking without charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled inspection date/time. You may, by agreement with the Mechanic, reschedule a booking without charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled inspection date/time.

8.2 If you cancel or reschedule a booking less than 24 but more than 3 hours before the scheduled inspection time you will be charged £65.

8.3 If you cancel or reschedule a booking less than 3 hours before the scheduled inspection time you will be charged £95.

8.4 If the Mechanic is unable to carry out the vehicle inspection service for reasons outside of his control, such as you not fulfilling your obligations under this Booking Policy, we reserve the right to charge you up to £95.

8.5 The above charges reflect the opportunity cost of cancellations and rescheduling to the Mechanic and time spent by the Mechanic in advance of the physical inspection, for example in researching the vehicle, its market price and known maintenance issues.

9. Our responsibility for loss or damage suffered by you

9.1 As the vehicle inspection services are independently provided to you by the Mechanic, and not by us, under no circumstances are we liable for any failure, breach of contract or defect in or relating to, or arising from vehicle inspection services performed, mis-performed or unperformed by the Mechanic. This includes any loss or harm resulting from the Mechanic performing, or failing to perform, the vehicle inspection services.

9.2 We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. All other liability we have to you is excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9.3 Different limitations and exclusions of liability will apply to liability arising as a result of your use of our Site (, which are set out in our Site Terms.

9.4 Please note that we only provide our services to you for domestic and private use. You agree not to use our Site for any commercial or business purposes, and we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.

9.5 All content, including advice and opinions, in a Mechanic Posting, is the responsibility of the Mechanic and not us. We are not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any content in the Mechanic Postings.
